An eco house, inspired by the legendary Georgia O'Keeffe and her iconic abstracted, ‘Door in a Wall’ series, in Taos, New Mexico. The artist repeatedly painted a real door in her courtyard in Abiquiu. Her home is an inspiration, combining the traditional with modern minimalism. This Lott is very elemental so we planned the space around a protected courtyard with large south facing windows to maximize on the winter light, passive solar heating. The high ceiling gives the spaces a warehouse feel, mixed with the comfort of large tub and wood burning fire. Industrial cottage style! We had a super tight budget which one might think would create compromise but we used this as driving factor that led to a super efficient and minimal design. It just got better with every edit we made!
